2011, a friday
Up early for a meeting on campus. Spent the rest of the day reading about Mars, researching hikes, ordering cable and catching up with the glut of emails CU is sending out for the beginning of the school year. More ‘Hotel Babylon’; huge crush on the concierge.
2010, a thursday
ellen show day! met up with maria and vince and we drove to WB and checked in. smiled and danced and clapped our way through the one-hour live QVC special in a freezing cold studio and totally earned those $100 gift certificates! ellen was so funny and adorable – and tiny! like maria’s size! afterwards we went to panera for dinner with clayton and later elaine met us there too. so full now.
2009, a wednesday
got up way too early for me and terry picked me up to go hiking at santa anita canyon. met up with christy and her friend karen. hike was fine until we missed a sign and ended up on the relentlessly steep and uphill hike up mt. wilson. got halfway to the top when we saw a sign that said we were definitely not on mt. zion, our intended destination. gratefully turned back. 3.5 hour/9 mile moderately arduous hike turned into 5+ hour/13 mile hike with gnats everywhere and we each seriously considered telling the others to go on without us/entertained thoughts of passing out and dying. made it out, everyone sweaty and dusty. terry and i had lunch/dinner at cheesecake factory and it was glorious. i will be extremely sore tomorrow.
