2012, a monday
Trudged to class in the snow. Got to my second class and found out that field geology was cancelled; dressed like an arctic explorer for nothing! Felt like having a pastry, so stopped at the café in C4C and got a homemade croissant poptart. It was amazing. Used my extra six hours to do homework. Braised some leeks—had a delicious dinner.
2011, a sunday
Woke up feeling icky—I think something I ate yesterday didn’t agree with me. Spent the morning in bed, then the rest of the day…also in bed (but I showered first!), eating and watching season 5 of ‘Dexter’ and looking at more Japanese stuff with Eric.
2010, a saturday
today is waitangi day, an nz public holiday, but very contoversial. we drove from wellington to hawke’s bay and had another fantastic lunch at black barn winery. i had gazpacho and it was exactly what I’d been wanting. we drove on to napier, found a pharmacy, relaxed a bit and watched tv coverage of the sevens. we walked down marine parade, saw the sunken gardens, and did the art deco walking tour. another very interesting tour, with good architectural info and human interest stories to do with the great earthquake. we had dinner at an australian chain, hog’s breath café, and filled up on ribs and steaks. we caught the sevens shield finals and watched the usa team win! back to the hotel for the night, watched ‘no country for old men’ on tv until I fell asleep.
