Her name was Pelita, she was 4.5 years old, and she was surprisingly heavy. Her info card listed her characteristics as “curious, independent, restless”. She latched on and slowly squeezed tighter and tighter with her very long and sharp claws. It was painful, but worth it to cuddle a little fuzzy koala, even if it was just for a few minutes.
Maru introduces his body to his adoring audience. SFW! :D
The main image at K Company is totally amazing. I suggest we all take their motto to heart.
More Alopaca here…Choco Paco looks a little high.
update: Ok, so I examined that Alopaca page a little more closely, and there is a video towards the bottom, right under the comic.
kara: omg did you watch the video
eric: no where is it?
kara: it’s on the alopaca page at the bottom under the comic
eric: hm it’s not loading
kara: it’s pretty amazing
kara: there is a bee that is following the alopaca
kara: vanilla alopaca is having none of it
kara: but the bee just wants to be friends!
kara: he brings them all flowers and then they cuddle and it is ok
kara: i can’t believe i just typed those sentences
Also, there is a blog. There are so many glorious things happening there that I can’t even begin to elaborate. You’ll have to see for yourself.
PALM SPRINGS!! Got up early, picked up Meghan, and drove to Palm Springs to the Ace Hotel & Swim Club for Emily’s 30th birthday. Jodi was there too, and bunch of Emily’s other friends from college, LA and SF. We hung out by the pool, read, dozed in the sun, drank, ate, and did some mind-blowing people-watching. Watched videos of Erin’s kids, Billi Shakes (wow), and a video Pam made of her patient cat wearing a camisole. I laughed so hard I almost passed out. A fantastic day, with a great bunch of ladies!
something new: Ace Hotel & Swim Club and King’s Highway ‘diner’, which is only a diner in the sense that it’s the most awesome interior ever. The food however, is amazing and not at all diner-y (though I do love a good diner!).
Oh, and also, of course I wouldn’t leave you hanging about the cat video.
drove to picton and toured the ship ‘edwin fox’ and its museum. we got in the vehicle queue for the cook strait ferry and I took a nap. we were finally able to drive aboard the huge cargo/passenger boat and enjoyed a picturesque cruise through the sounds. in wellington, the nzi sevens were on, so crazily-dressed rugby fans filled the streets on the way to the stadium. we took the cable car up to the botanic gardens and walked around the observatory and rose gardens. we ate at the restaurant in the garden then drove to the karori wildlife sanctuary for our nighttime tour. the tour was great and very educational – we saw tree wetas and tuataras and heard some little spotted kiwi but didn’t catch a glimpse. when we got to the hotel the insect bite on my leg which had been bothering me for a few days seemed a lot worse – hot to the touch, swollen and purple – so mom took me to the after-hours clinic. sure enough, my leg was ‘quite infected’ so i was prescribed a load of antibiotics, both oral and topical.
