2011, a tuesday

Up early, futzed about and spend a few last hours hanging out with Mom. Calculus, a quick lunch then saw Mom to the airport shuttle. Back to campus for geology lab – short field trip to Valmont Butte. Calculus homework and astronomy reading for the rest of the night.

2010, a monday

worked out, did prelab, caught up on ‘boardwalk empire’. class, hydrochloric acid-ed some stuff and it was awesome, home, cookies.

2009, a sunday

dan, emma, eric and i loaded into eric’s car and drove to get breakfast burritos, then parked at at&t park to board the shuttles for the treasure island music fest. we saw some great bands, including some surprises – beirut, edward sharpe and the magnetic zeroes. we got there probably around 1pm and stayed until the end (the flaming lips!) so it was a pretty long day – plus it was cold and super windy out on the bay!

My favorite Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes song! I am extremely impressed with this guy’s whistling skills.

from the madeloud.com review of the edward sharpe and the magnetic zeroes album:

Make no mistake, though: Edward Sharpe & the Magnificent Zeros are no jam band. Don’t think Phish; instead, imagine what Arcade Fire would sound like if they’d sprouted up in Southern California, hanging out in a sun-baked backyard rather than hunkered down in a chilly old church in Canada.

me: i think you put it better

me: and more succinctly

eric: yeah, maybe “chilly old church” means their butt

eric: and “hunkered down” means they put a stick up in it
