a great video of a rube goldberg device that fills an entire house.

a cupcake and crossbones pendant – tempting. but realistically, where would i wear it? soooo i got this tshirt instead.

i saw this video about trusted computing awhile ago but i forgot how a) awesome it is; and b) how cute that little guy in his wee bucket is.

HOLY SHIT THIS IS AMAZING
this is a video of a demo done at TED. seadragon is a sort of endlessly deep information mapping program. and the demo for seadragon and what you can do with the image engine is insane. the photosynth-ed notre dame cathedral? modeled based off of thousands of flickr photos? endless resolution? incredible.
i’ve been fiddling around with virb for the past day or so…and i think this is it: i think my nerd-prayers have been answered. if – IF – enough people get wise to this, virb could finally make myspace obsolete. well, it’s already obsolete, but maybe once people have tasted the good life of standards-complicance and css and ajax, they’ll realize myspace and its janky code really is incredibly crappy. i encourage everyone to join up; let’s do this people! let’s make virb the social networking site!
i feel slightly ashamed/dirty about this advertisment-y post. but virb really is better. trust.
eric sent me this and it’s awesome. the tribbles talk in 1pt-size-smaller voices like roast beef and spock talks totally normal. which is, you know, as it should be.
while most of the people i know are mourning kurt vonnegut, i’m getting ready to celebrate the birth of leonhard euler, one of the greatest mathematicians that ever lived. the washington post has a good article about him. he was extremely prolific and sounds like a pretty fun dude. i’m totally serious.
as long as i’m thinking about math, a tip of the hat to mr. shaffer and mr. docherty, the two best math teachers ever. have you ever tried to make calculus and logarithms interesting? fun? engaging? these men could.

check out magnetosphere, one of robert hodgin’s processing-produced motion graphics pieces.

best. show. ever. connecting to the internet with my mind drew me in. the rainicorn made me laugh out loud. petting penguins in mid-air sold me. i hope nickelodeon picks this up! algebraic!
secondary link in case it gets pulled from youtube (again).
