i still have some things that i would really like to get for my trip to japan: comfy shoes that can be put on and taken off easily, a mid-weight coat and maybe some lightweight pants in case it gets warmer. i went shopping today to find these things and came up with…NOTHING.

why do i even try anymore? i can never find anything that doesn’t look all weird/craptastic and if i actually do find something i like, it doesn’t fit me. today’s excursion was one of the most solidly demoralizing experiences of my life. why can’t i just be 4 inches taller? it is SO FRUSTRATING to not be able to find clothes that fit. i hope that once i’m in japan i’ll be able to find some things in my size. if not there, then where?

the one area of shopping in which i am successful is electronics. so, true to form, last night i ordered a digital camera from amazon.com for the trip. originally i was going to buy the sony dsc-t11 once i got to japan, but decided that the price was a bit too steep even though it’s such a good looking camera and the lcd is so large and clear. i considered buying the t1, which is available in the u.s., but after reading a few reviews that brought a few good points to mind, i decided to go with my original choice, the canon powershot s410.
