i am working on alternate style sheets and whatnot so the site may be a bit wonky for the next week or so.

if you haven’t seen/used them yet, check out the super jewel boxes at jewelboxing. if i ever got my butt in gear and actually made a reel, this is what i’d use for the packaging.

also check out the examples + inspirations section. lots of cool stuff, including one guy who printed all of his inserts and labels with a letterpress. damn. that guy is kick-ass.

if you haven’t actually seen an ocean liner, this is just about as good as being there. kevin hulsey is a technical illustrator and what we in ‘the biz’ refer to as “a pimp.” check out his How To for this german cruise ship which took 9 hours to export from illustrator. the level of detail here is unfathomable…i mean – his carpet samples!

‘azkaban’ is by far the best harry potter film yet. it is visually striking, well acted and well told, especially considering how much had to be left out or condensed.

jim jarmusch’s latest, coffee and cigarettes, is a fun and lighthearted movie depicting several vignettes of people interacting over coffee (or tea) and cigarettes. very refreshing, especially amidst the heavy subjects, visuals and long running times of most of the movies i have seen of late.

again, the day after tomorrow was better than i anticipated. it is not really an action movie, more of a…scientific thriller? is that a new genre? the special effects were neat, and i definitely felt a sort of panic about the environment during and after.

been seeing a lot of movies this past week, so i don’t know when i’ll be posting my ‘reviews’ of new films. also i’m still procrastinating about that whole japan trip report thing, but maybe i’ll get to that this next weekend friday.

i found a new apartment! it was the 3rd one i looked at, the second listing i saw. it is large and cheap and quite nice and i’m very very happy with it. it’s kind of far west, but that’s ok – i’m signing the lease tonight!
